About

The Museo de La Altagracia Alejandro E. Grullón E., located on the grounds of the Basílica Cathedral Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, exhibits an impressive collection of paintings and gold jewelry ranging from the 17th to the 20th century. It also tells the religious and cultural history of the Dominican Republic and its devotion to the Virgin of La Altagracia. You will find an outdoor area to light candles and pray. Visiting this museum, its exterior and interior areas, will help you understand the importance of the adjacent cathedral. The museum has six exhibition rooms and a temporary exhibition hall, through which you can appreciate different pieces of sacred art and paintings, whose scenes exalt the devotion to the Virgin Mary and that have allowed the extension of the Altagracia devotion on the island.
