Go on a nature walk inside the thick forests of Valle Nuevo National Park–an area known for its biodiversity of over 500 species of flora, and an abundance of birds, reptiles, amphibians, and butterflies. This trail runs for nearly 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) and leads you on an easy hike through a fern forest, where you will spot a great variety of ferns and terrestrial orchids. Expect to see endemic and endangered birds as well, including the golden swallow, Hispaniolan parrot, Rufous-throated solitaire, Hispaniolan trogon, Hispaniolan emerald hummingbird, as well as a number of more common species. It’s a family-friendly, comfortable nature walk for all ages.
